In honor of my 215th post (yeah, well.... my 200th was a while ago, so we're sticking with 215) I've decided to treat you to the opportunity to personally benefit from reading my blog EVEN MORE than you already do (ha ha).
I started this blog right after Kyle and I celebrated our Honeymoon in Wine Country, California. A few months prior we marked our calenders and with great luck (and extreme perseverance on my part using TWO cellphones at once) Kyle and I got reservations at The French Laundry. Food Snobbery Heaven! I remember learning about The French Laundry a LONG time ago when I was browsing through the cookbooks in my parent's kitchen (you think I just became a food snob on accident?) when I stumbled across one that looked like a piece of art.
My mom explained to me how Thomas Keller served his patrons a 13 course dinner. THIRTEEN COURSES? My young mind couldn't wrap itself around the concept. But then she continued to explain. They are all very small, well thought out and incredibly detailed courses. Look at the details in those recipes; the ingredients; the time it takes to make each course. I was intrigued. And the pictures. Oh god the pictures! They are enough to make any omnivore's mouth water.
SO! In honor of the marriage that lead to the dinner which was part of the honeymoon that started this blog, I give you:
The French Laundry Cookbook Giveaway!

While in NYC, definitely hit up the Belgian beer bar at W4th and the Ave. of the Americas... Vol du Nuit. Really good mussels + fries with amazing choices for dipping sauces, first-class selection of Belgian beers with appropriate glassware and an outdoor dining area -- a secluded patio! I killed many an evening there when I lived in the City. Ah, good times.
It's not even that I want to win another cookbook so bad, I just totally support giving stuff away to the general public: http://twitter.com/heavytable/status/2290654437
In NYC I think you should try Tom Colicchio's restaurant Craft, I have never been but I heard its great and would love going myself someday.
I'd like to see some pork belly and some canning this fall. And homemade ice cream. And some tries at fermentation like sauerkraut or kimchee.
I don't know how to link to my status on twitter!!! But I did it and you follow me, so you should know!
When do you plan on being there?? I'm headed up in August, and plan on hitting S'MAC, so you definitely should too (345 E 12th St). I mean, it's got to be buried somewhere in our cheap Wisconsin cheese-loving souls, right?
Also, another cheapo unhealthy (yet allegedly mind-blowing) place is Flip, a new burger joint in the Manhattan Bloomingdale's.
These may not be the types of things you're looking for, ie sit down, but are probably optimal lunchtime choices if you guys are wandering. Have fun! Pick me, random number generator!

In NY eat at Angelica Kitchen. I have read about it and it makes me drool! Eat the walnut-lentil pate for me and the angelica pickle plate!
OOooh and make anything with Beets! ANYTHING!

Osteria del Circo (122 w 55th) is a really fun environment and great Italian food. I think its owned by the sons of the owner of Le Cirque which is pretty well known as well.
Have a great trip!!
Here, I lay before you the link that shall send the people en mass to your loverly blog type thing. http://twitter.com/Schmengi/statuses/2303752606
Unfortunately, I'm not NYC savvy, so I can't provide any words of wisdom :(
However, I can say that I'd like to see you blog about some fresh veggie dishes. Yum.
I'm a big fan of any NYC restaurant owned by Danny Meyer - Blue Smoke is terrific and relaxed, with a great drink list, if you like Barbecue. Union Square cafe, anyone? I've also heard good things about Rouge Tomate, but i haven't been there...
After last night's dinner, I'd love to see you cook some head cheese! Seriously though, how about some vegetable pickling? Onions, asparagus, etc. would be lovely1
I would like to see a vegetarian dish that's tasty and doesn't involve beans or a stand mixer and can fill up the belly of a boy named Alex. Or, a tasty dessert.
Also, not to worry, I have many places to take you in NYC in September! (They may not be famous or a million dollars a plate, but I'd have to say they're still pretty good. :-) )
I'd like to see some no-bake cookies that don't involve chocolate or peanut butter. Can it be done? Hopefully, because the last thing I want to do these days is turn on my oven.

I'd love to see you do some gastronomy/food science. Not because I think it's particularly tasty, but because I'm so fascinated by it all. Lavender foam? Lemon-scented scallops? An inside out omelet? Yes, please.
Yum.
Would love to see something easy to create in a small space (read nyc teeny kitchen) that does not require the use of stove top or oven (read wimpy window air conditioning unit). I have tried many a gazpacho recipe...so despite my obsession with gazpacho, this cannot be an option!
As for where to eat in NYC (in no particular order)... and I better get to hang out with you at some of these places:
It will cost you, but it is oh so delicious: Per Se, Le Bernadin, Jean Georges (While not quite the same, Nougatine has a $26 -lunch, $38 - dinner recession special), Insieme, Nobu (prefer Tribeca location), Union Square Cafe (prefer atmosphere to Gramercy Tavern)
More moderate (but still can be pricey if you let them be): Cornelia Street Cafe (also has venue for musicians in basement w/ $10 cover), Rosa Mexicano (Lincoln Center location is better than Union Square), Cafe Ronda, Pasha, Toloache, Tenzan, Kefi
Good deals: Grey Dog, Hummus Kitchen, Sushi Mambo, Ocha, Sotto Cinque, Pisticci (live music on Sundays), Dinosaur BBQ
Steals: Halal cart (53rd & 6th), Dosa cart (Washington Sq. St and Sullivan), Maoz, Green Symphony, Shake Shack

Katie, with your photography I'm okay with anything you cook, you could make a sloppy joe look amazing.
I'd love to see some canning. Also more exotic foods are always good, even if I don't cook them, seeing recipes for things I've never heard of tends to improve my cooking.
Thanks to Heavy Table I've discovered your blog! And I'll return to see what excitement you cook up. Here are requests: The CSA Challenge (never too many ideas for kohlrabi, scapes and a whole horseradish root). Also, infused spirits.
And I figured out how to post my tweet. Thanks for boosting my tech IQ.

You must must must go have the french fries at Balthazar. And also, if you're into sushi, put yourself in the sushi chef's hands at Sushi Seki on the Upper East Side.
Great to meet you at Paired, btw!
In NYC, I would recommend Little Poland (200 2nd Ave) for huge portions reasonably priced of Polish food. If you like mac and cheese, check out Sarita's Mac and Cheese. I got a sampler - delicious.
this book is in my folks kitchen too. the apple and tree thing you know? its so true. food snobbery is genetic perhaps. i love your blog photos, they're stunning. i'd love to see posts with pics, of course, on the local farmers markets here in the twin cities.
